Real Housewives Of New York City's Luann de Lesseps has said that she feels the need to publicly apologize for her recent drunken behavior because she wanted to do “the right thing.”
She appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on Tuesday to apologize for her recent antics.
Lesseps Apologizes After Being Removed From Bar
It was reported that the reality star had been removed from a gay piano bar Townhouse in New York City last week after she took over the mic to belt out tunes. She told the booing patrons, “F–k you.” and "You don’t know me! I’m a cabaret star!"'
"Luann thought she was doing her act," a source told Page Six. "She tried to sing [her own song] Money Can’t Buy You Class, but they didn’t know it, they know standards."
They continued: "The piano player was like, "I don’t know the song," and she responded "It’s a hit!"'
Lesseps later denied being kicked out, claiming to us that she had been celebrating and left on her own accord. She changed her story later on Instagram, issuing an apology for her behavior.
“This week, after a regrettable incident, I was faced with the truth,” she began her statement on Instagram Saturday. "Clearly my struggles with alcohol are real! While I've made great strides over the years, there's been times I've fallen. It's one day at a time! I'm in recover and taking steps to ensure this doesn't happen again."
Bravo Star Claims She Had Been Sober Until The Incident
The 56-year-old housewife claims she has been sober until the drunken incident.
"I had a pretty good track record, but people slip. And like I said, I’m only human, and it happened,” she said on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen Tuesday.
De Lesseps has publicly struggled with her sobriety for years, having been arrested in Palm Beach in 2017 for being drunk and disorderly. She later pleaded guilty to battery, trespassing and disorderly intoxication to reduce her charges. She later checked into rehab to help with her alcohol addiction.
“That’s part of being responsible and moving on, picking yourself back up and doing the right thing.”
“I’m only human, and it’s progress, not perfection,” she said.
Host Andy Cohen confirmed that she hadn't been drinking whilst filming Girls Trip or on the most recent season of Real Housewives of New York, and that she was drinking non-alcoholic Fosé Rosé while visiting the Bravo clubhouse.
