Kodak Black Released From Jail After Receiving Time-Served Sentence

Kodak Black has been released from jail after serving more than two months behind bars on a probation violation charge.

The hitmaker was released from the Miami Federal Detention Center on Wednesday (Feb. 21) after a Florida judge granted the rapper a sentence of time-served, effectively ending his supervised release.

U.S. District Judge Jose Martinez, who handed down the sentence, advised Kodak to “straighten out” his act moving forward to avoid future run-ins with the law. The controversial lyricist was first arrested back in December in Plantation, Fl., after he was found asleep behind the wheel of a SUV.

He would initially be charged with oxycodone possession, evidence tampering, cocaine possession and a traffic violation, however, a lab test determined the powdery substance found by police was not cocaine, thus leading to that charge to be dropped.

In addition, the oxycodone possession charge was nixed due to the Bradford Cohen, Kodak’s attorney, providing proof that the rapper was prescribed the drug by a pharmacy. According to the Miami Herald, the finding was a fact Circuit Court Judge Barbara Duffy said could not be “refuted or negated.”

While the 26-year-old may now be a free man, he apparently has already caused a stir after throwing rocks at reporters attempting to interview him following his release from the Miami Federal Detention Center. It’s also alleged that Kodak threatened physical violence against reporter Rosh Lowe of WPLG Local 10 News.

“I’ve been doing this a long time, and let me tell you, this is one of the strangest things I have ever seen,” Lowe said on air. He added that Black “threatened to punch [him] repeatedly.”
