Early life
Hugh Skinner was born on January 6, 1985, in London, and grew up in London, Tunbridge Wells, and Eastbourne; he attended Eastbourne College and graduated in 2003.
When Skinner was a child, films and television would interest him, which led him to try his hand at acting; that’s why he enrolled at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art to train as a professional actor. Nothing is known about his family genealogy, and he has kept this aspect of his life hidden from the public eye.
Career
Skinner started his journey with his first role in “French Without Tears,” a play in English Touring Theatre, and along with theater, he took his first step in front of the camera by getting work in the “Bonkers” tv series.
After making his first appearance on screen, Hugh worked in “Tess of the D’Urbervilles,” “Any Human Heart,” “Law & Order UK,” and “Poldark” he was also seen in short films like “Bloody Muddle,” “A Performance The Roof” and a few supporting roles here and there in films like “Les Misérables,” “Kill Your Friends,” “Our Zoo” “Hampstead.”
It was 2013 when Hugh got the role of Luis Carruthers, a gay man who was in love with the protagonist, Patrick Bateman, in “American Psycho,” at the same time, he was also offered the role of Will Humphries in BBC’s comedy “W1A” series, which he played amazingly.
Critics praised him for his sense of humor and intelligent timing; this led him to star in a spoof of the British royal family, ” The Windsors,” as Prince William; he loved to play characters that were funny by nature.
By 2017, he was featured in several big films, including “Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi” and “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again” where he played Young Harry his acting turned out to be the highlight of the whole film which was a sequel to the movie ” Mamma Mia!,” he then landed a role in “Harlots” a TV Series as Sir George Howard, which streamed on Hulu, his career was on its proper track after he worked in AzamonPrime’s “Fleabag” as the protagonist’s on and off boyfriend.
Skinner then had back-to-back movies and TV series, some notable being “Steven Berkoff’s Tell Your Heart,” “Little Birds,” “Allie and Natasia,” and “The Witcher,” he has recently bagged a role as Oliver in “The Invitation,” a big-budget supernatural film.
