Henry Ruggs Attorney arrest news has been trending on social media. Let’s know the reason behind his imprisonment.

Free agent wide receiver Henry Ruggs played professional American football in the past. The Las Vegas Raiders made Ruggs their first-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

While playing college football there, he participated in the University of Alabama’s 2018 College Football Playoff National Championship-winning squad.

Ruggs was responsible for an automobile accident that killed a 23-year-old lady and her dog during his second NFL season.

The same day, the Raiders released him. On May 2, 2023, Ruggs consented to enter a guilty plea to both a misdemeanor count of vehicular manslaughter and a felony count of DUI causing death.

Who Are Henry Ruggs Attorney David Chesnoff And Richard Schonfeld?

David Chesnoff and Richard Schonfeld, Ruggs’ defense attorneys, submitted a request asking Letizia to reverse Bonaventure’s decision.

Chesnoff and Schonfeld said on Monday that they intended to present their case in Clark County District Court, according to the Associated Press.

In court documents submitted on Monday, Henry Ruggs’ attorneys claim that the judge is not treating the former Raiders wide receiver equally with other DUI defendants.

According to an agreement between the attorney and prosecution teams, rugs will serve three to ten years in prison.

The statement from Ruggs’ lawyers, David Chesnoff and Richard Schonfeld, to the media said, “This is the first step toward a fair resolution to this matter, and we look forward to closure for all parties involved,”

They rejected further comments in the court hallway along with their client and numerous others who were present.

Ruggs’ attorneys failed in their attempt to stop prosecutors from presenting evidence indicating Ruggs had a blood alcohol level of 0.16% after the predawn rear-end collision that killed 23-year-old Tina Tintor and her companion dog, Max, which was twice the legal limit in Nevada.

Ex-Vegas WR Henry Ruggs DUI Charges

In connection with a collision that ended in the death of 23-year-old Tina Tintor, Ruggs is allegedly facing charges of DUI, reckless driving, and gun possession while intoxicated.

Henry Ruggs III, a former wide receiver for the Las Vegas Raiders, won’t have his case transferred to a different court while facing three counts related to a fatal DUI vehicle accident in November 2021.

Justice of the Peace Harmony Letizia of Las Vegas determined on Monday that she lacked jurisdiction to reassign the matter to Justice of the Peace Joe Bonaventure’s courtroom, according to Katelyn Newberg of the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

On February 21, Newberg pointed out that Bonaventure had withdrawn from the case because he had made public comments about it while seeking reelection the year before.

According to the Police, Ruggs was intoxicated when driving his Corvette at 156 mph on November 2, 2021, on a Las Vegas street. He then struck Tintor’s Toyota Rav4, bursting the gas tank and killing Tintor and her golden retriever Max.

Ruggs had a blood alcohol level of 0.16, which is double the Las Vegas legal limit, according to the Police. On the residential street, the listed speed limit was 45 mph.

Is Henry Ruggs Still In A Jail?

Ruggs secured a $150,000 bond to be released from custody after leaving the hospital. Since then, he has been subject to stringent conditions, including alcohol tests, throughout his 18-month House imprisonment.

According to Bauman, Ruggs will remain under House arrest until his sentence is announced, and his mandatory three-year sentence cannot be commuted using time already spent.

The first thing to note in this circumstance is that although Henry Ruggs has got bail, a case is still being put up against him.

Ruggs is charged with many felonies and is accused of having a blood alcohol level exceeding the Nevada legal limit.

In addition, he faces a misdemeanor charge of gun possession after Police allegedly found a loaded weapon in his wrecked vehicle.
