Just when people think Beyoncé might stop making history, she surprises everyone. The 41-year-old pop star was recognized with the honorary mayor title for Santa Clara, Calif. this week.

Queen Bey is in the midst of the California leg of her Renaissance World Tour and, according to The Mercury News, the Santa Clara City Council honored the mother of three by naming her honorary mayor on Wednesday (Aug. 30).

The “Cuff It” artist was awarded the key to the city as well, which was accepted on her behalf by Dr. Yvette Noel-Schure. “The city of Santa Clara is excited about Beyoncé’s upcoming visit to the world-renowned Levi’s Stadium,” Michelle Templeton, Santa Clara spokesperson said. “Her concerts will certainly bring a great deal of energy and excitement.” Check out photos of the ceremony below.

Beyoncé was given this honor for her “tremendous cultural impact as one of the most influential pop culture figures,” namely selling over 200 million records worldwide and winning 32 Grammys. Her charity work was also mentioned, specifically Survivor Foundation, Chime for Change, and her nonprofit BeyGOOD.

The Renaissance artist follows Taylor Swift in the lineage of honorary Santa Clara mayors. The “Anti-Hero” artist was recognized with two days, and they even renamed the city “Swiftie Clara”, which she was around for during her Eras Tour.

Beyoncé’s massive tour is in support of her July 2022 album Renaissance. The LP was led by the single “Break My Soul” and features Tems, Beam, and Grace Jones. A highlight of the tour has been her daughter, Blue Ivy, joining her onstage and showing that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree when it comes to choreography.
